Our CEO

Message from the President/CEO

Thank you to everyone who participated in FSCC’s Retail Delivery Convention in June. The convention attracted credit unions from 26 states and Puerto Rico. The theme, “Reshaping the Playing Field through Innovative Solutions”, reinforced FSCC’s role as the leader in technological innovation. Of course, retail delivery depends not only on technology, but also on people.

Our keynote speaker, Ann Rhoades, JetBlue Airways executive, explained ways for credit unions to build a strong service culture. Innovation also requires persistence in the face of overwhelming challenges. Inspirational speaker Josh Sundquist, a Paralympic Ski Racer, showed the audience what real persistence means. Despite his encounter with cancer and the amputation of his leg at the age of nine, Josh spoke thoughtfully of his efforts to live a healthy and normal life as well as compete as a ski racer.

We hosted multiple educational sessions where speakers presented tools on how to grow membership and compete in various areas of the financial services industry. Topics included expansion of financial services, self-service solutions, marketing strategies, and technology. Handouts from the convention can be found and downloaded from our website, www.fscc.com, under the Events/Annual Convention tab.

Access through Innovation

During 2008 we have been busy maximizing your shared branch connection. Although shared branching remains our primary focus, we have recently implemented new services to provide your members more access to your credit union. Those services include remote deposit, mobile services, and more.

One of the many channels available through the model is Mobile Banking and is provided through our partner PSCU Financial Services. According to a recent IBM report, consumers want more choice when it comes to their finances and mobile is part of the mix. By 2011, the mobile marketplace is expected to bring in $80 billion. Mobile internet users are expected to reach 1 billion during the same time frame, an increase of more than 190 percent from 2006.

More and more financial institutions are offering mobile banking. Bank of America offers free mobile banking services to its 21 million online banking customers. Their mobile banking campaign, “Bank the way you live”, has enabled B of A to add 220,000 mobile subscribers in just the first quarter of 2008, bringing enrollees to over 1 million.

If you are still on the fence about mobile, consider this. With FSCC’s interface, you already have the tools to provide the mobile channel to your members. If you are still undecided, why not take advantage of this connection and offer it to your staff and do your own research. We want to make the brave new world of mobile as easy as possible for you. Your existing interface with FSCC is about as easy as it gets.

Of course we cannot forget the over 2,000 24/7 7-Eleven® shared branch locations which are allowing members to choose where and when they perform financial transactions. The positive comments we are receiving on how well these units work are overwhelming. If you have not tried one yet, you are in for a treat. Members love them. Thanks to FSCC’s shared branching interface, credit unions are becoming the most convenient financial institutions in the world.

As we continue to expand and integrate our network of services, please know that shared branching will always be our main mission. And our credit unions will always be our top priority. Thank you for allowing us to serve the Credit Union Movement. I hope you will continue to contact us with your ideas and suggestions for the future. Please email me at sarahcbang@fscc.com or call me at (888) 372-2669 ext. 1205. Thank you.

Thank you,
Sarah Canepa Bang
